David's debut studio album, Leave Luck to Heaven (2013), features the ocarina in a wide variety of music styles, including Celtic Rock, Jazz, R&B, Classical, and Americana. Though the initial aim of the album was to showcase the capabilities of the instrument, the music reflects David's many influences throughout his musical journey.
 
The album also features performances and arrangements by several well known artists, including pianist Aivi Tran, composer Garnet Oliver, and chip tune artist, Ben Landis.
